The City of Hidden Hills is arrayed along the western foothills of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County, north of the Ventura Freeway (the 101 freeway), and stretches to the Ventura County line. The 2,000 residents of this enclave enjoy a country way of life within a small city. As its evocative name suggests, it boasts an authentic bucolic atmosphere as witnessed by the absence of sidewalks and street lights, replaced instead by stately oak trees, white three-rail fences and bridle trails.

The only evidence of habitation here in 1950 was two oak trees on a long dirt road leading into rolling hills. Through the efforts of local citizens the city was incorporated in 1961, and today occupies just two square miles with 648 home sites, one elementary school and one traffic signal on one-third of an intersection.

Hidden Hills’ beautiful, peaceful ambiance makes it a treasured rural component of Los Angeles County as it combines the charms of small-town living with the urban amenities of Southern California. Despite its diminutive size it brags of the Hidden Hills Tennis Club, and its Horsemen’s Association offers gymkhanas, team penning, horse shows, group trail rides, riding clinics and seminars. And don’t forget the Hidden Hills Fiesta with its food, entertainment and music.
