Malibu is a closely-knit residential community characterized by its carefully preserved rural atmosphere. Its combined incorporated and unincorporated areas cover approximately 45,000 acres, but what sets it apart is its 27 miles of legendary coastline.

Located within these boundaries are varied climates and terrains that include beaches, mesas and canyons that create a unique environment for its approximately 13,000 residents. It ranges from the rugged rural beauty of Mugu Rock to The Getty Villa Malibu, an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria. Or take in the Weisman Museum of Art on the Pacific Coast Highway, located on the grounds of Pepperdine University. The museum provides a fresh, engaging arts experience through an array of programs and a changing schedule of exhibitions.

With its 27 miles of coastline, Malibu offers many beautiful beaches with spectacular views, hiking opportunities, surfing and swimming. Most popular are Surfrider Beach, Zuma, and Leo Carillo, all supplemented by the jewel of the shore, the Malibu Pier. Public access to other beaches along the highway is marked for your convenience.

Enjoy hiking, biking, camping and more in the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy that will provide maps and information about the parks and hiking trails in the Malibu area.

Finally, experience the ambience of such fine dining establishments as The Sage Room, Plate, Dukes or the Beau Rivage, and keep your eyes open for well-known actors and directors who are out enjoying the evening. For its natural beauty, cultural and culinary opportunities, Malibu has a great deal to offer.
